A method for purifying organic solids. An impure organic solid is dissolved in the minimum volume of hot solvent. Insoluble impurities are removed by hot-filtration. The hot filtrate is allowed to slowly cool to room temperature. The product re-crystallises, leaving soluble impurities behind in the solvent. The solid is removed by vacuum filtration, and dried in a warm oven, or in a desiccator.
