J8- ALCOHOL to ALKENE

ALCOHOL + CONCENTRATED SULPHURIC ACID are cooled and mixed slowly together. The mixture is then warmed gently.
This is both a DEHYDRATION reaction and an ELIMINATION reaction.
For example CH₃CH₂CH₂OH => CH₃CH=CH₂ + H₂O
